Caring for your Treatment

Aftercare for Eyebrow Enhancement

Proper care following your enhancement is necessary to achieve the best results. Please review the following instructions and refer to them as necessary. If during the healing process you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me on 07525820681.

You may experience the following symptoms for 4 days

  • Minor swelling and redness.
  • Mild tenderness.
  • Itchiness in the eyebrow area.
  • Dry flaking skin.
  • These symptoms are a normal part of the healing process.

Daily care to follow for 7 days

  • Apply a healing balm a minimum of 1 – 2 times a day, using a cotton bud. Wash your hands before applying the product and prevent cross-contamination of the product by using a clean cotton bud for each eyebrow. (Do not use petroleum jelly)
  • We recommend that you use a gentle facial cleanser to freshen your skin during the first week. Do not splash wash your face. Do however clean your enhancement twice daily with damp cotton pads.
  • Apply a thick layer of Vaseline to your enhancement when washing your hair to prevent it from becoming wet. Remove the Vaseline with damp cotton pads.
  • If your enhancement gets wet, gently pat the area dry using a clean tissue.
  • Keep your hair away from your enhancement to prevent the possibility of infection.
  • Some itching is normal. DO NOT PICK, PEEL OR RUB your enhancement as the colour may heal unevenly and you could risk infection, which in turn could lead to scarring. Allow the colour to flake away by itself.
  • Do not receive skincare beauty treatments for 5 days after the application of your enhancement.
  • No make-up should be applied close to your enhancement for 3 days.

Avoid for 2 weeks

  • Do not expose your enhancement to direct sun, tanning treatments, hot tubs, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, and direct shower spray.
  • Do not receive eyebrow tinting, waxing, electrolysis, or laser hair removal treatments close to the brow region.

Important notes

  • Remember, your selected colour will be stronger and more sharply defined for 10 to 14 days after application but as the healing process occurs the colour will soften and lighten.
  • The approximate healing period is 14 days; however, healing can be prolonged if your immune system is compromised if you are generally stressed or if your diet is not optimal.
  • Keep in mind that in many cases, some unevenness of colour is to be expected. This is the purpose of the control visit allowing us to fine tune your enhancement. If you have opted for a refill and you do not attend your scheduled control appointment you will be charged for any further treatment. Cancellation notice is always 48 hours.

Long term care

  • Use a good sunscreen. Sun exposure will fade your micro-pigmentation enhancement.
  • If you are planning a chemical peel, laser procedure or an MRI scan, please inform the technician of your micro-pigmentation enhancement.
  • Please inform the National Blood Service if you donate blood, as you may not be eligible to give blood for 4 months post application.

Aftercare Microneedling & Medical Needling

Some side effects are to be expected. When you leave your appointment, your skin may be flushed or bright red, as if you have spent the entire day out in the sun and have a mild to moderate sunburn. The redness and swelling will most likely persist for 24-48 hours or slightly longer. This is very normal.

Even with careful aftercare, there is not much you can do to get rid of the redness immediately after Micro Needling. Covering up the redness with makeup is one of the worst things you can do, as the makeup will block the pores on your newly exposed skin and might even cause breakouts. You will need to have some patience as the redness subsides, but in the meantime, you can apply your aftercare cream which will be given after each treatment. Swelling and some skin peeling are all considered to be within the realm of normal up to a few days after the procedure. Other side effects, like bumps, breakouts, and dry skin, are also within the scope of what you may experience after Micro Needling, but not everyone will experience them.

Taking care of your skin with aftercare cream and gentle cleansers can make your side effects as minimal as possible.

Aftercare tips:

Reach for sunscreen constantly for the first 2 weeks after Micro Needling. Make sure to apply sunscreen anytime you go outside in the days following your treatment.

Do not spend prolonged time out in the sun for the first week after your Micro Needling procedure, as you will be more prone to sun damage than usual.

Wash your hands before you touch the affected area.

Avoid beaches, swimming pools, saunas, and situations where you might sweat heavily, including intense workouts at the gym, to protect your newly treated skin. After 72 hours have passed, you may be able to resume these activities.

What to use and avoid for the first few days after your Micro Needling procedure are any skin care products that contain harsh chemicals meant to exfoliate. Avoid anything that is scented, and do not use glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids. Retin A and vitamin C serum should be avoided for the first 7 days, minimum, after Micro Needling.

Once 2 full weeks have passed, you might want to gradually add products back into your daily beauty routine instead of doing your usual regimen, especially if you use products that have strong antiaging formulas.

Most of the visible recovery from Micro Needling happens in the first day or two after treatment, but healing will still be happening under the surface of your skin for up to 2 months afterward.  Taking care of your skin after Micro Needling can make a huge difference in the outcome of your treatment. Not only will proper aftercare soothe your symptoms, but you will also be protecting your skin from damage as it heals. Follow any instructions from your therapist as closely as you can, and do not be afraid to ask them questions before or after your appointment.

After care for re-pigmentation stretch marks/scars and vitiligo
  1. I will cover your new repigmented area in a thin layer of Vaseline Ointment or Antibacterial/Moisturizing cream and a bandage.
  2. Remove the bandage after you get home. Gently wash the repigmented area with antimicrobial soap or baby soap cleanser and lukewarm water and be sure to pat dry (Do Not Rub Dry).
  3. Apply a layer of Antibacterial/Vaseline Ointment twice a day, but do not put on another bandage.
  4. Gently wash your repigmented area once a day with soap and water and gently pat dry before reapplying the Antibacterial/Vaseline Ointment.
  5. Keep applying a moisturizer or ointment after you clean it to keep it moist. You should repeat this process for 2 weeks.

Try not to wear clothes that will stick to your repigmented area and avoid swimming and the sun for at least 2 weeks. Take tepid showers. Hot water will not only hurt, but it can also fade the ink. Wear a physical blocker sunscreen with at least 7% zinc oxide sunscreen during the daylight hours and/or cover it up (with clothing, a bandage). If your repigmented area scabs a bit or develops hard layers, do not worry, it is normal. Never pick, scratch, or peel the treated area as this can lead to infection or remove the colour. If you think your repigmented area is infected or is not healing properly please contact your doctor and advise me as well. (this is exceedingly rare)
